3 Simple Ways to Style a Denim Jacket

A denim jacket is one of the best staple pieces to have in your closet. It pairs well with so many different things – a dress, shorts and a t-shirt, or even a romper. It’s a piece of clothing that you’ll have in your closet forever, and it never goes out of style. With summer right around the corner, here are three simple ways to style it.

1. Wear it over a jumpsuit or romper. In this photo, I paired my denim jacket over a bright red sleeveless jumpsuit. I think it adds a more casual feel to this dressy outfit, which I paired with these powder blue heels. It was really cold the day I took this photo, so it helped keep me warm too. It’s also a great piece when you’re in between seasons and the weather may be unpredictable. A denim jacket can really be worn over anything. Don’t be afraid to experiment to fit your personal style.

2. Drape it over your shoulders. I think draping a denim jacket over your shoulders is such a classy and chic look. In this photo, I draped it over a neon green bodysuit, paired with a leopard pleated skirt, white studded heels and multi-color hoop earrings. I love it because it gives any outfit that extra added detail.

3. Tie it around your waist. One of my favorite ways to wear a denim jacket is around the waist, especially with shorts or this striped knit tank dress that I’m wearing. You can also blouse out the fabric from the dress, especially if you’re wearing a t-shirt dress, to give it a more looser fit. I paired the dress and jacket with these comfy white sneakers, silver hoops and light pink sunglasses. This is my ideal comfy and casual outfit.
