My Little Black (and White) Dress

Today I was in New York City for a conference I attended with one of our vendors from work. Even though I love living in New Jersey, it’s nice to visit New York. There’s nothing like it – the hustle and bustle, the high rise buildings, and of course, the fashion.

I knew I would be attending an event so I wanted to be comfortable and professional. I tend to wear heels every time I’m in the city and forget that things aren’t close together. As a result, you either have to walk or take a cab to get where you need to go, and today was no different. I wore these red, strappy heels from IMPO that I absolutely love. They are super comfortable, so I didn’t have to worry about walking today (phew). You can’t go wrong with a great pair of red heels, and these are one of my favorites. I’ve also linked some other options for red heels here and here.

I call the dress I’m wearing my little black (and white) dress because I think every girl needs a little black dress in her wardrobe. I love the pattern of this dress from Express and it’s strapless, which makes it multi-functional. You can wear it as is or you can pair it with a basic blazer to make it more of a professional work outfit, which I did today. I’ve linked a similar one here. The black blazer I’m wearing, also from Express, is a staple piece in my wardrobe and can be paired with so many different pieces besides a dress – jeans, shorts, or even a bodysuit. Here’s another option.

You know that I love my accessories, especially statement necklaces, and I actually got the one I’m wearing as a gift from one of my good friends. I just love it and get so many compliments on it every time I wear it. You can’t see it in this photo, but I’m wearing a multi-color gemstone ring from my grandmother, on my dad’s side. It was her favorite ring and every time I wear it, I think of her.

I love color and try to incorporate a pop of color in my outfits any way I can. For today’s outfit, I added the pop of red, but you can really do any color – pink, yellow, blue, the choice is yours. And don’t be afraid to carry that color through to your lip color or even your eye makeup.

What’s your favorite pop of color to add to your outfits? I would love to hear about it.
